PuTTY - connecting to a Linux computer

  You can establish an encrypted connection to a Linux computer with the PuTTY program. PuTTYcan is installed on Windows computers under the university’s centralized maintenance via the Software Center. PuTTYcan be installed on users’ home computers via the PuTTY website https://www.puttykey.com/ You will need a separate program for transferring files between a local computer and a Linux computer, such as WinSCP. PuTTY is a text-based command-line program. For graphic work on Linux computers, you will need a separate program, such as Xming.
